China: An Inside View
Accelerate your business success
Program Overview
The rise of China has been regarded as a transformation whose significance may only be matched by the industrial
revolution in the UK, during the 18 th and 19 th centuries or in the US, during the 19 th and 20 th centuries. Boasting
1.3 billion potential customers and, annually quadrupling per-capita income, China is the fastest growing market on
the planet. With hundreds of millions of skilled workers eager to accept low wages, China is Asia's manufacturing
center and an important global player.
China’s strong economic growth and increasing foreign investment over the past two decades indicate that
many companies have already succeeded in the country, taking advantage of both market and cost-saving
opportunities.
International firms typically view an involvement in China as crucial to their global business success. Nonetheless,
doing business in China can be difficult. Experienced multinationals have long been aware of the challenges,
summed up by the Chinese proverb that states “In China everything is possible, but nothing is easy.”
China: An Inside View is a four-day executive program which provides its participants with a first-hand view of
China’s unique business context. The academic sessions are led by faculty members from both IE Business School
and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). The program combines in-depth lectures on Chinaspecific
business topics taught by prominent experts, as well as, industry exploration projects, company visits and
cultural events.
Who the program is designed for
This international executive program has been designed for executives who are interested in initiating business in
China or who are seeking to improve their current business relationships in the country. Participants will receive
an overview of the political, legal, social, and above all, business contexts in China. Participants include CEOs,
managing directors, general managers, chief representatives, country heads, functional directors, and international
business development managers among others.
