“The program exceeded my expectations - I am very happy that I
had the opportunity to take part in it. Hopefully, there will be another
chance in my life to attend some other course organized by you.“
High-Potential Leaders Program (HPLP) is a unique international learning
experience that provides participants with the knowledge and frameworks needed
to create value within their organizations and successfully face higher levels of
management responsibilities in the immediate future by presenting them a global
overview of critical business fundamentals.
HPLP has specifically been designed to prepare participants to be more effective
leaders and team players in today’s highly competitive, global business environment.
During the program, participants will meet other talented professionals from
different industries, cultures and organizational backgrounds.
The program is structured in two separate in-class modules and one back-at-the
office module during which program participants will apply the acquired know-how
directly to their organizations by developing a real-life corporate business plan.
The topic of the business plan will need to be agreed upon and supervised by their
superiors, and program Faculty.
Areas Of Knowledge
Building and Expanding Management Foundations
Broadening Strategic Thinking. At this stage of their career it is essential that
promising executives understand the foundations on which successful business activity
rests. This section will cover the following modules: Strategy, Finance, Marketing,
Technology, Accounting and Operations Management. Participants will appreciate how
different business areas are connected, as well as, their impact on the functional and
technical responsibilities they hold in their organizations.
Financial accounting. The financial situation of any company is crucial when
making strategic decisions in any functional area or business level. Most decisions
need to be justified and backed-up by numbers. This module will be taught online
before the start of the first in-class module.
Thinking and implementing strategy. Success is defined by the ability to create
“competitive advantage”. This module aims to develop a “strategic mindset” that
will help participants to create distinctive and value-adding strategies for their firms.
Financial management and performance measurement. This section will focus on
budgets and their firm’s financial structure. In this section, the program will also cover
the way a company estimates the necessary cash needed for its short-term operations.
Adopting the customer’s perspective. Understanding marketing strategies and
objectives will help participants play a more active and effective role in their company’s
overall strategic decision making process.
Adding value to the organization through IT processes. In today’s rapidly
changing technological environment, staying ahead of the competition means staying
up-to-date on IT. These sessions focus on how Information Technology strengthens
organizational decision-making and competitive advantage.
Successful project management skills for competitive advantage. A business
leader must develop the skills and capabilities to successfully manage projects on
time and on budget. This module offers proven project management processes and
tools that assure that projects yield the desired business results.
Developing Managerial Skills
Creating a deep understanding of oneself. HPLP has been designed to expand
management and leadership skills. From day one of the program, participants will
build interpersonal and cross-cultural experiences. Through a number of practical
workshops, they will improve their teambuilding, presentation, communication,
feedback, negotiation and cross-cultural management skills. They will also receive
personal feedback to assess themselves compared to fellow participant’s.
Leadership skills for you and your team. The ultimate source of competitive
advantage results not only from having the most ingenious product design, the best
marketing strategy, or state-of-the-art production technology, but most importantly,
from the effective leadership of a company. This module focuses on identifying the
roles successful leaders play and how they develop others.

Managing and building teams. Globalization and rising new economic powers
present new challenges to organizations that face an environment in continuous
change. To respond to these demands, many companies are replacing the traditional
pyramidal and hierarchical structures for other more horizontal and less structured
organizational forms, where teambuilding becomes of the utmost importance. In this
context, the success of a manager lies in his or her ability to create, design and
develop effective work teams.
Successful presentation and communication skills. This module will assist
program participants in acquiring an in-depth understanding of the importance
of effective presentation skills for business professionals. A practical workshop
designed to help participants gain confidence in themselves while presenting and
communicating in public and becoming aware of what messages (body language,
voice, expression) they are transmitting.
Effective negotiation skills. Managers negotiate on a daily basis with superiors,
colleagues, subordinates, potential partners and competitors, investors and board
members, clients, suppliers, employees and labor unions. During this module,
participants will obtain the necessary tools to analyze negotiation situations effectively
and build interpersonal skills to influence and persuade others.
Cross-Cultural communication and management. The ability to harness cultural
diversity and turn it into sustainable performance advantages has become a “must”
in most organizations, not only as individuals that are part of a multicultural team,
but also when dealing with customers, suppliers, or other stakeholders. As a result,
this module develops the capacity to effectively manage, compete, build and lead
across cultural, geographic and organizational boundaries.
Applying the Learning in the Workplace
Implementing a real-life business plan. In between both in-class modules,
program participants will return to their workplace during a 5-week period. Their
assignment will be to develop a corporate business plan on a specific topic that they
will have to define, together with their superiors, prior to the beginning of the program.
In order to properly prepare program participants for this exercise, a module on
how to successfully create a business plan will be offered by experts in the field of
corporate entrepreneurship.
