Individual Development Plan (IDP): a comprehensive development process
The BBVA Group has completed the implementation of the human resources competency-based
management model for the Group’s more than 100,000 employees. The purpose of the IDP is to provide
support, automation and improved efficiency in the management of employees’ career development.
Supervisors and reports together define the competencies to be improved and choose the appropriate
training courses listed in the IDP catalogue. The result of the IDP is a two-year development plan
drawn up by consensus, made up of the appropriate actions for improvement, and reviewed
annually.
The last competency assessment process, which took place in 2007, was completed with the drawing
up of over 55,000 Individual Development Plans which translated into more than 266,000 training
measures that were implemented in 2007 and 2008.
